Little Boy in his bunk at sleep-away camp this week, or what he calls "night camp".  It's a great camp and he's now a returning camper, but it will still be a nail-biter week for me.  Slow down this growing up, please!!!!

After a trip to the park, there's nothing more my kid loves than Lowe's Home Improvement.  From the plants and flowers, to the appliances and paint, all the way to the contractor supplies....he will walk over the entire store looking at and naming items.  Maybe it's the repetition and routine of autism or maybe it's for the same reason that I love the smell of sawdust.....maybe it's just in our blood. Since he's leaving to go to sleep-away camp tomorrow, I wanted to take him wherever he wanted today.  This is what he asked for.  Sometimes I get sad that he's not more interested in more "normal" kid activities, but I also can't help but enjoy watching his simple pleasures.

Since this movie clocks in at just under 3 hours, my hubby and I had to view it over 2 evenings.  And it is very weird and somewhat hard to follow, but also very interesting and entertaining.  E-Roc and I both marveled at some of the elements of imagination contained in it from the technology to the language.  Even E-Roc, who is sometimes picky about his movie choices, said this movie really did have something for everyone.  And it does: action, violence, special effects, engrossing story, well-known actors, and an interwoven plot that you are begging to see through.  It's also the kind of movie that leaves you thinking about it for days afterward.....believe me!

Frack, frack, frack!  If you don't know what it means (and, really, you should) you should probably watch this movie. But honestly, this movie doesn't get too much into the science and the actualities of how fracking works so much as how it affects people, towns and the land.  The scariest thing you realize about big business and environmental action is the behind-the-scenes smarminess and pay-offs happening to get it done and keep people only talking happily about it.  There is a twist in this movie that I did not see coming, but the end was pretty predictable.  Overall, a pretty good flick that makes you appreciate the hard-working family farmer just a little bit more all the while considering your own limits and decisions of integrity.
