Friday Playlist #9: The Best of The Police and Sting

Even though I'm about 4 years behind, I finally just finished Broken Music a memoir by Sting. The book was good, but as a longtime Police and Sting fan, I wanted to hear more about the songs and what was behind them. This book was more about his childhood and movements toward music and not so much about The Police beyond their beginnings. That's okay. After reading it, I have such a greater respect and appreciation for why Sting loves and performs the music he does, his influences and what I always I guessed and now know: how intelligent he is. I've always loved Sting......both with The Police and on his own. When E-Roc and I saw The Police on their reunion tour a few years ago, it was one of the best huge arena shows I've ever seen. I remember when they started Synchronicity II and E-Roc leaned over to me and said "I have chills". Only true music fans would ever understand. Boyz N the Hood 20 Year Anniversary

It's hard to believe Boyz N the Hood was released 20 years ago this summer. A lot has changed and a lot has stayed the same. This movie has so much: friendship, pain, loss, violence, poverty, adolescence.....and it's so so rich in all these things. I cry and feel moved every time I see it, and that has been MANY times now. And even though the subject matter of this film is so serious, it still manages to have some great light moments and dialogue that anyone who's seen it will recognize right away. Betta take yo ass to da sto wit dat! You aint' a virgin, is ye? Is ye? You may be cute. But you're not special. I ain't no criminal. I can read! Young brother, I think you can do anything you put your mind to. But the E-Roc and I agree, that is has one of the coolest fathers in any movie of any genre ever: Furious Styles. You have to see it to know wh

Found Objects This Weekend....

Spotted on some sort of gas tank outside of gas station. Is it a band? A warning? Found on bench at Schiele Nature Trail. Some poor lil babe's head is very cold!

Money in the Kitty

Trying very hard to work myself out of the funk I have been in all week. It's not easy....but Surprise Kitty does help......a little.
